Core app data stays in your browser
Google Drive sync is optional

Overview

SatLedger is a client-side Bitcoin portfolio tracker. By default, your transactions, wallets, settings, and other app data are stored locally in your browser using local storage on the device you use to access the app.

SatLedger does not require you to create an account to use its core features, and the app is intended to function without sending your portfolio data to a SatLedger-operated backend.

Information SatLedger Stores

  • Portfolio data you enter, such as wallet names, transaction history, notes, price information, and app preferences.
  • Optional encrypted inheritance vault data if you choose to use the vault feature.
  • Temporary interface preferences such as theme, sidebar state, and chart settings.
  • If you enable Google Drive sync, tokens and sync metadata needed to reconnect and locate your app data file.

How Data Is Used

  • To calculate holdings, cost basis, profit and loss, charts, exports, and other portfolio views inside the app.
  • To remember your app configuration and restore your local session on the same browser.
  • To back up and sync your data across devices only if you explicitly sign in with Google and enable that feature.

Google Drive Sync

If you choose to sign in with Google, SatLedger requests access to Google Drive's appDataFolder scope. That scope is intended for app-specific hidden storage and is used only to read and write the SatLedger backup file needed for sync.

Your synced data is stored in your own Google account, not in a public folder. SatLedger uses the Google Identity Services and Google Drive APIs solely to authenticate you and move your chosen backup data between your browser and your Google Drive app data storage.

Inheritance Vault

The inheritance vault is intended to store sensitive notes in encrypted form. Vault encryption and decryption happen in your browser using the passphrase you provide. SatLedger is not designed to know or recover that passphrase for you.

If you sync the vault through Google Drive, the encrypted vault data may be included in your backup file, but it remains encrypted ciphertext unless someone also has the correct passphrase.

Third-Party Services

  • Coinbase endpoints are used to request live and historical BTC price data.
  • Google services are used only if you opt into Google sign-in and Drive sync.
  • Your use of those services is also subject to the applicable Google and Coinbase terms and privacy practices.

Data Retention and Control

  • You can delete local app data by using the reset and import/export controls inside SatLedger or by clearing your browser storage.
  • If you used Google Drive sync, copies stored in your Google Drive app data folder remain there until replaced or deleted.
  • To stop cloud sync, open Settings -> Cloud Sync and disconnect the linked Google account. You can also revoke SatLedger access from your Google account permissions page.

Security

SatLedger is built to minimize unnecessary data transmission, but no software, browser environment, local device, or third-party platform can be guaranteed to be completely secure. You are responsible for protecting your device, browser profile, Google account, exported backups, and vault passphrase.

Children's Privacy

SatLedger is not directed to children under 13, and it is not intended for use by anyone who cannot legally agree to these terms in their jurisdiction.

Changes to This Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time as SatLedger evolves. The updated version will be posted on this page with a revised effective date.
